“Thailand: REDEFINE Your Business Events”
TCEB unveils 2019 marketing campaign
Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB) calls for global collaboration in creating new business event strategies.
Las Vegas, October 16, 2018 -- Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB) has launched a new campaign Thailand: REDEFINE Your Business Events to transform the organization’s role from a supporter and marketer of business events hosted in Thailand to become a relationship builder, skill developer, thought leader and enabler within the business events industry. The campaign will be underpinned by proactive marketing strategies and activities to attract more premium convention, meeting and incentive groups from the Americas.
The campaign calls for collaboration between the Thai business events community and international event planners to create new event content and strategies to drive stronger return on business, time and happiness. TCEB encourages and co-creates new MICE events that align with national economic policies including Thailand 4.0 - an economic master plan to transform the Thai economy into an innovation-led, high tech-based economy by promoting 10 S-Curve industries.
Mrs. Nichapa Yoswee, Senior Vice President of Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (Public Organization), or TCEB, explains: “In this ever-changing world, transformation and collaboration are fundamental and inevitable, especially in the business landscape. Capital is not just a crucial driver of business success, but it also helps to deliver fresh perspectives.
“Thailand welcomes business events which centre on knowledge, creativity and culture, and provide opportunities to gain invaluable experience. As part of our new campaign ‘Thailand: REDEFINE Your Business Events’, we welcome global event planners to collaborate with our Thai community to create new experiences for their participants using Thailand’s rich content. Likewise, our partnerships with key providers across Thailand enable us to provide maximum deliverables to our customers.TCEB has developed powerful new industry partnerships with Events Travel Asia Group (ETA), who will provide transportation for site inspections, and Dusit Hotels and Resorts Thailand, who will offer complimentary accommodation at 10 of their properties across the country for planners visiting Thailand for site inspections. In addition, Thai Airways International and Thai Smile Airways will offer complimentary air tickets for international and domestic flights.”
Responding to the call for collaboration, Founding CEO of Events Travel Asia Group, Max Boontawee Jantasuwan said: “It is a pleasure to support TCEB’s call for collaboration. The new campaign has come at the time where collaboration is the only way to build sustainable business through the strengthening of relationships. I am certain that an international event strategist will be more than willing to work with a leading destination like Thailand, where the industry’s unity and sincerity are underpinned by collaboration expressed in action, not just talk.”
A cash reward program has also been introduced to MICE agents and intermediaries who accumulate meetings & incentives group numbers or spending in a year to Thailand. Eligibility begins with just 1,000 participants or 30 million baht (approx. US$ 915,000) and cash incentives go up to 2 million baht (approx. US$61,000).
TCEB estimates that in 2019, Thailand will welcome 1,419,890 overseas business events visitors (an increase of 7% from the previous year), set to generate 130,200 million baht (US$4.018 billion) in revenue (an increase of 5%). As of September 30, 2018, Thailand won a total of 14 bids to host international conventions, attracted 10 mega-size meeting and incentive groups (with more than 2,000 delegates) and supported a total of 400 business events.
Thailand is working to strengthen its reputation as a leading international business hub, especially within the ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) region, with the development of new business precincts like the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC), Thailand Digital Park and Thailand Innovation Park. The Thai government is also investing in major infrastructure projects that will bolster ties and create new business opportunities with neighbouring CLMV countries (Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar and Vietnam).
